“TN will have surplus power by year-end”

Tamil Nadu will have surplus power by the end of this year, Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa has said. The Sholapur-Raichur power line, now under trial, will be available for commercial use shortly and contribute another 1,208 MW to the State. The Kudankulam second unit will supply 462 MW by the end of this year.” Ms. Jayalalithaa also listed the other projects that would soon supply power to the State and said Tamil Nadu would get 3,195 MW of additional power by year-end. This would take the State’s total power generation capacity to 14,745 MW against the requirement of 14,505 MW.
