Bucks’ Adrian Griffin offers first glimpses into his vision, philosophy and coaching style
New York TimesMILWAUKEE — Tuesday’s introductory press conference for new Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin contained plenty of joy and excitement. So, I’m extremely humbled.” With a coach returning to the city in which he started his journey to take his first head coaching job, it was no surprise to hear positivity and optimism brimming from Griffin and Bucks general manager Jon Horst for much of Tuesday’s press conference. I don’t just see him as an offensive coach; he’s gonna be someone that I lean on.” On Thursday, ESPN reported Joe Prunty and Patrick Mutombo would also be joining Griffin’s staff in Milwaukee. “So it wasn’t specifically that he’s this great defensive coach and we need to be significantly better defensively, it’s that I think he’s a great basketball coach and I think that he’ll be able to figure out the answers to the problems that come to you during the course of the regular season and, more importantly, April, May and June.” Overwhelmingly, when discussing why he believed Griffin would help the Bucks take a step forward, Horst came back to Griffin’s ability to succeed in different ways and make changes along the way as a coach.
