Seahawks, QB Geno Smith reach agreement on 3-year deal

RENTON, Wash. — The Seattle Seahawks agreed to terms with quarterback Geno Smith on a three-year contract Monday that keeps the AP comeback player of the year in the Pacific Northwest. Smith and Seattle’s leaders made it clear after the season ended with a 41-23 loss to San Francisco in the opening round of the playoffs they all wanted the relationship to continue. Really, as we look to the future, he is a big part of why we are looking to the future so promisingly.” Last season was the first time Smith had been a full-time starter since 2014 with the New York Jets. While a developmental quarterback for the future could be on the agenda, it becomes less of a need for Seattle now that Smith’s immediate future is settled.
