iOS 9 update fixes critical iPhone Airdrop exploit

iOS 9 has been released for all current iPhones and iPads -- and you'll want to upgrade immediately. Australian security researcher Mark Dowd revealed on Wednesday that iOS 9 will patch a security flaw he discovered -- and told Apple about -- more than 12 months ago. The problem could theoretically see a malicious attacker hijack your device using Bluetooth, installing apps on your phone via Airdrop. The exploit, demonstrated on video using 8.4.1 -- as of press time the most recently released version of the OS -- can place malware on your Apple device even if you don't decide to accept the proffered file. He also told WIRED US that while iOS 9 fixes the issue, for the most part, it's still possible that another hack could reopen access to the flaw in future.
