Anthony Albanese launches '$10k cash for apprentices' policy at National Press Club — as it happened

ABC

Before I get to Phil Coorey's question, let me take you on a trip down memory lane. Labor went to the last election with just one tax policy: reforms to close loopholes used by multinational corporations to avoid paying tax. But in government, it pivoted, announcing it would increase the tax rate on superannuation accounts over $3 million. He says this would impact not only people's retirement but "the national economy as well". "If we’re in government, we’ll continue to be supporters of superannuation because of what it does for retirement incomes, but what it also presents as a national asset to present in the national interest," he says.
