
Education Department predicted positive future for trouble-plagued Kalgoorlie school
ABCA Kalgoorlie school the subject of a "confronting" review after a string of violent incidents had previously received a positive appraisal of its future prospects from the Western Australian Education Department as recently as four years ago. In a damning review released this week, the department's Expert Review Group found Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School had serious long-term issues with leadership, teaching practices and behaviour management. "Unified direction and purpose are provided by the core values established for the school," the 2012 review found. While the review identified improvements, Education Department Goldfields regional executive director Ken Perris told ABC Goldfields-Esperance it also flagged significant issues.
