ISRO develops advanced system for early prediction of lightning strikes across India using satellite data
ISRO develops advanced system for early prediction of lightning strikes across India using satellite data ISRO has utilised data from Indian geostationary satellites to predict lightning events across the country. ISRO announced on Tuesday that it has made significant strides in nowcasting for lightning events across India by leveraging data from Indian geostationary satellites. Researchers at NRSC/ISRO detected lightning signatures through the Outgoing Longwave Radiation data gathered from the INSAT-3D satellite. To improve lightning detection further, the team incorporated additional parameters, including Land Surface Temperature and wind, into a composite variable aimed at boosting predictive accuracy.
