Payton Pritchard opens up about emotional trade deadline: ‘It’s a weird feeling’
New York TimesBOSTON The Celtics didn’t make a huge splash on trade deadline day. In Boston, with experienced guards like Marcus Smart, Malcolm Brogdon and Derrick White in front of him on the depth chart, Pritchard hasn’t always received an opportunity to play. “I think I’ve been open that for me I just want an opportunity to go out there and compete with the best,” Pritchard said. “I think it’s tough because I do love the city of Boston,” Pritchard said. So, I don’t know what that looks like, but I know that’s the most important thing in my life, is being able to suit up every day and going out there knowing I’m going to play every game.” In the meantime, Pritchard said he plans to focus on the fact that he’s “here now.” He said he has “a great opportunity to be a part of a great team and try to win a championship.” He said he intends to “go back to grinding every day and when my number’s called, go out there and compete and do whatever’s asked.” “You’ve gotta sacrifice,” Pritchard said.
