Peter Laviolette will return to the Predators next season: ‘I’ve got to be better with what I’m doing’
As the Predators sputtered through an inconsistent and unsatisfying season, Peter Laviolette’s shelf life became a popular talking point in Nashville. Laviolette returning for a sixth season with the Predators isn’t a surprise; Poile, who has overseen five coaches in nearly 40 years as a GM, isn’t one to react emotionally. “Ultimately, I’m the one who’s responsible,” Laviolette said near the end. “I haven’t really put much thought into that, but maybe that’s why we had a little bit of struggles this year, that we weren’t really as fast and maybe thought it would come easier than it did.” Poile said Wednesday that the Predators’ six-game series loss to the Stars “shows that we have some areas that we need to address” and “there will be some changes.” But it won’t matter what the Predators’ roster looks like next season if Laviolette doesn’t make the necessary adjustments to his approach.

Gut reaction will call for change, but Peter Laviolette should return next season
