According to a report by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy, job losses, and the number of unemployed people in the country have been steadily rising Almost 11 million people lost their jobs in the country in 2018. This reality needs to assessed in the context that there is only the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act scheme available for those who have lost their jobs in the rural sector.
