
Karnataka: Kashmiri Students From Nursing College Told To 'Shave Beard'
ABP NewsA group of nursing students from Jammu and Kashmir studying in Karnataka under the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme have alleged that the college administration asked them to trim or shave their beards. The students from the Government Nursing College, Holenarasipura, Hassan have written to the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association claiming the college is enforcing “discriminatory grooming standards” that infringe on their cultural and religious rights, reported The Indian Express. Acknowledging the matter, college principal Chandrashekhar said that the students were informed that a neat and professional appearance is essential in a field like nursing where discipline is critical. Nasir Khuehami, national convenor for the J&K Students Association told the Indian Express that they will also write to Jammu and Kashmir government about the matter.
