'First Act, Second Think': Opposition as RBI withdraws Rs 2,000 notes
India TodayThe Opposition lashed out at the Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the Reserve Bank of India announced that it has decided to withdraw Rs 2,000 notes from circulation and asked people to exchange their notes by September 30. 2,000 rupee notes introduced with such fanfare after that singularly disastrous Tughlaqi firman of Nov 8 2016 are now being withdrawn.” The Aam Aadmi Party’s Alka Lamba said: ““If probed, notebandi would prove to be the biggest scam of the century. In the name of attacking black money by discontinuing 1000 rupee notes and issuing 2000 rupee notes, Prime Minister Modi only made the work of his fugitive capitalist friends easier - before demonetisation, friends would have to run away with the country's money in double sacks. I hope this is a decision made on recommendation of the experts, not a knee-jerk act.” Delhi Chief Minister and AAP's national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, said: “First they said that corruption would stop with the Rs 2,000 notes. àæàæäàæ¬àæ¾àæ° àæèàçàæàæ¬àæèàçàææàæ¿àæäàç àæ¬àæ²àæ¾ àæ¹àæïàæ¼àçàæàæ¿àæ² 1) àæàæ¾àæ²àç àæàæ¾àæàæ¾ àæàææàçàæçàæ¾àæ° àæ¹àæ¬àçàåä 2) àæàæàçàæàæ¿àææàçàæ° àæàæ¾àæàæ¾ àæàçàæàæ¾àæáàæ¼ àæ¬àæèàçàæç àæ¹àæ¬àçàåä àæàçàæèàçàæàæ¾àæ àæ¹àæïàæ¼àæèàæ¿àåä àæàæ¿àæàç àæ²àçàæ àæ¬àçàæïàæ¾àæàçàæàæ²àçàæ àæàæ°àç àææàçàæ¶ àæàçàæáàæ¼àç àæªàæ¾àæ²àæ¿àæïàæ¼àçàæàçàåä àæÆàæ° àæ¬àçàæïàæ¾àæàçàæàçàæ° àæ²àæ¾àæàæèàç àæ¸àæ¾àæçàæ¾àæ°àæ£ àæ®àæ¾àæèàçàæ· àæ®àæ¾àæ°àæ¾ àæàçàæàçàæèàåä àæàçàæèàçàææàçàæ°àçàæïàæ¼ àæ¸àæ°àæàæ¾àæ° àæÆàæ¬àæ¾àæ° àæ àææàçàæ°àææàæ°àçàæ¶àç àæàæ¾àæàç àæ¸àæ¾àæçàæ¾àæ°àæ£ àæ®àæ¾àæèàçàæ·àæàç àæèàæ¿àæïàæ¼àç àæàçàæ²àçàæàçàæ²àæ¾ àæàæ°àæàçàåä — Kunal Ghosh May 19, 2023 The RBI, announcing its decision today, said in a statement: “In pursuance of the “Clean Note Policy” of the Reserve Bank of India, it has been decided to withdraw the Rs 2000 denomination banknotes from circulation.
