What happens if you get COVID-19 in Tasmania when the borders open?
In less than three weeks, Tasmania will reopen to the rest of Australia. The Premier says people who are unvaccinated and are a close contact of a positive case will have to quarantine for two weeks. Anyone living in the same household is considered a close contact and also have to quarantine but the number of days will depend on factors such as vaccination status and length of exposure. "This means if you were, for 15 minutes or more, sitting next to someone in the car, sitting on the same table at a restaurant or sharing a small office space while the positive case was infectious, including the 72 hours before they developed symptoms, you would be a close contact," Mr Gutwein said. Unvaccinated people living with a vaccinated close contact will be asked to quarantine for one week too.
