Sopore Attack: Another J&K Councillor Succumbs to Injuries as Early Probe Shows LeT Hand
News 18Another municipal councillor who was injured in the militant attack at the meeting of the urban local body in Sopore town of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday at a Srinagar hospital. Shamsuddin Peer is the third person to be killed in the attack after a municipal councillor and his personal security guard were shot dead, police said. In a statement, the BJP said it “condemns the killing of its municipal councillor and a police officer by militants.” Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar visited the scene of the attack and later chaired a review meeting with top security officials of the area. The IGP Kashmir also took serious note of the poor and inappropriate retaliation by the PSOs of protected persons present on spot and directed the SSP Sopore to put four PSOs under suspension,” he said.
