First ever electric sedan from Jaguar spotted testing
India TodayAfter a production run of almost 5 decades, Jaguar Land Rover pulled the plug on the XJ sedan in 2019 and now after almost a year, the brand's latest electric XJ has seen the light and is out in the open testing. The first generation of the XJ electric sedan was spotted in its test mule clothes and if reports are to be believed, JLR will introduce the electric XJ not before 2021; however, the Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S rival will be the only available version of the premium sedan once launched. The XJ electric sedan will be based on Jaguar Land Rover's electrified MLA platform Now, not much is known at this point of time about the electric XJ, but we do know that the electric sedan will be based on Jaguar Land Rover's electrified MLA platform built for EVs, hybrids, and plug-in hybrids that will be part of JLR’s portfolio by 2025. In terms of the design, the XJ EV is still in development stage so most of what we see here in the spy shots could be altered at a later stage The details of the specifications are scarce at the moment, but we expect JLR to carry a 90kWh battery pack that is birthed from the Electric Drive Units collaboration with BMW signed last year.
