Little Lama was just about to escape a war zone for treatment on her shattered leg. Then Israel invaded Rafah

ABC

Ten-year-old Lama was dressed and her bag packed to escape Gaza when Israel invaded Rafah and closed the only crossing out of the enclave. She had been granted special permission by Israeli and Egyptian officials to leave the enclave through the Rafah crossing after her leg was shattered during an Israeli attack on her home earlier this year. But since Israel invaded Rafah on May 7, all civilian entry and exit routes have gone, even for urgent medical evacuations. OCHA estimates at least 700 critically ill and injured patients have been unable to leave Gaza to get medical treatment abroad since the Rafah closure.
