Childcare very often more expensive than allowance rate; Parents pay €3,210 per month

NL Times

Last year, three-quarters of Netherlands parents paid a higher hourly rate for childcare than the maximum rate the government set for the childcare allowance, Statistics Netherlands reported. Last year, over 700,000 parents received childcare allowance for just over 1 million children. For parents with one child in childcare, the childcare costs amounted to an average of 6,130 euros last year. Parents with three or more children spent almost 16,580 euros on childcare last year, and got almost 68 percent reimbursed.
