Haryana to implement three new criminal laws by February 28: DGP Shatrujeet Kapur
The HinduHaryana is likely to become the first among States and second after the union territory of Chandigarh to implement the three new criminal laws in entirety by February 28, according to State Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapur. Mr. Kapur told The Hindu that the new laws define timeline for courts to dispose of trial proceedings and it might be challenging as the courts would have to deal with existing cases registered under the old laws and the fresh cases in a time-bound manner. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has set a timeline of March 31 for Haryana but we expect to implement the laws by February 28,” Mr. Kapur said. He said the State was procuring tablets and mobile handsets for the police and every station in Haryana had six computers connected to the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems, the centralised software to file First Information Reports, investigation reports and chargesheets.
