Udhayanidhi Stalin could not join NCC while in school

Chennai: Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin regretted that he could not join the National Cadet Corps when was a student at Don Bosco School in Chennai as his application was rejected and hence had to be a part of the National Service Scheme. Speaking at an event at Kalaivaar Arangam to give away incentives and shield to NCC cadets from the State who took part in the Republic Day Camp 2025 and also won prizes in the national level competitions in New Delhi, he said 129 NCC cadets from the State, who went to New Delhi, were sanctioned funds for air travel by Chief Minister M K Stalin, for the first time. Congratulating the cadets who won medals, he said cadets from the State had won the following distinctions: First place in 'Best Directorate in Aero Modelling' and 'Line Area', 'Idea and Innovation', Gold in 'Best Directorate – Republic Day Camp', Special Prize in 'Table Drill’ and Second place in 'Ballet'. An allocation of Rs 1 crore for the additional construction of infrastructure facilities at the NCC Permanent Camp site in Neerpeyar village, Chengalpattu District, Rs 1 crore for the construction of training and camp facilities at Olaiyur Village, Tiruchirapalli District, increasing the cash incentives for outstanding NCC cadets and best performances to Rs 28 lakh from Rs 14 lakh were some of them, he said.
