Yoga that focuses on breathing and meditation linked to stronger hearts in patients with heart failure: Study
Hindustan TimesAccording to a study, yoga that focuses on breathing, meditation, and relaxation is connected to symptom improvement in people with heart failure. "Patients who practised yoga on top of taking their medications felt better, were able to do more, and had stronger hearts than those who only took drugs for their heart failure," said study author Dr. Ajit Singh of the Indian Council of Medical Research, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, India. Yoga linked to stronger hearts and symptom improvement in heart failure: Study Heart Failure affects vast numbers of people - more than 64 million globally and can have devastating impacts on quality of life, with patients feeling tired and breathless, and being unable to participate in their usual activities. While previous studies have shown the short-term benefits of yoga in patients with heart failure, this study provides new information about the long-term effects. Yoga may be unsuitable for heart failure patients with severe symptoms, who were excluded from our study."
