Uttarakhand BJP MP bats for turning Auli into world-class skiing hub

Anil Baluni, a BJP MP from Uttarakhand, on Sunday pitched for developing Auli, a popular ski resort destination in the state, as a world-class tourist attraction for the sport. Our concept is to go a step further and develop infrastructure for night skiing in Auli so that it can become a big adventure tourist destination," Baluni said. The scarcity of snow poses a significant hindrance to Auli's ambition of being a global skiing hub, despite the region's natural beauty attracting tourists from all over India. In a conversation with India Today, ITBP Deputy Commandant Nanak Chand Thakur, an Olympic skiing trainer, highlighted Auli's unique position in international skiing. Thakur suggested installing floodlights along the slopes to facilitate night skiing, a popular practice in many foreign countries, to further enhance Auli's appeal.
