Surfboard 'saved' shark attack victim

A surf lifesaver says a surfboard probably saved the life of a man who was attacked by a shark on the New South Wales mid north coast yesterday. Last night the 48-year-old was surfing at Crowdy Head, south of Port Macquarie, when a 2.5-metre long shark bit his forearm and surfboard. Crowdy Head surf lifesaver Adam Eady says the man is lucky there was another surfer there to help him get back to shore. The guy that was out surfing with him, he said the shark came up and hit him and kind of got his arm and the board at the same time," Mr Eady said.
