Govt. will launch ‘Pragati Patha’ scheme to improve rural road network next month, says Priyank Kharge

Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Priyank Kharge said in Mangaluru on Saturday that the State government will launch the ‘Pragathi Patha’ scheme next month to improve and develop the rural road network in the State. The government will invest ₹5,190 crore to improve and develop 7,110 km of rural network roads under the scheme, Mr. Priyank said, while speaking after inaugurating the second edition of ‘Hombelaku’, a sports and cultural event for members and employees of rural and urban local bodies in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Mr. Kharge said the government has set a target of providing 13 crore man days of work by the end of this financial year under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. Childcare for working women Under the ‘Koosina Mane’ scheme of providing childcare for working women, the Minister said more than 3,000 Koosina Mane have been set up across the State so far.
