Pascal Siakam preferred the Pacers, who will be looking to make Indiana his permanent home
New York TimesThe Indiana Pacers were Pascal Siakam’s preference all along. He remembers hearing that Pacers coach Rick Carlisle voted for him as an All-Star reserve last season when he didn’t make the initial cut but was added to the team as an injury replacement. It should surprise no one that Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton has everything to do with the dopamine that is now flowing through Siakam’s veins. But as was the case with the Pacers front office and the coaching staff, Siakam is also well aware that a deal like this doesn’t go down unless the organization’s most important player, that being Haliburton, is giving a hearty thumbs-up. The Pacers already have the league’s best offense, and the notion of Haliburton constantly looking for Siakam, Turner or sharpshooter Buddy Hield is even more tantalizing than what they had before.
