Without internet and smartphones, vaccination inaccessible in rural UP as Covid cases go north | Ground Report

India’s vaccination policy mandates that all in the age group of 18 to 44 register themselves in advance using the CoWIN website, Aarogya Setu app or Umang app in order to get vaccinated against Covid-19. India Today TV’s team visited the rural parts of Varanasi and found that most people do not have the required internet access, smartphones, electricity and awareness to register for the vaccine. If walk-in vaccination camps are organised in the villages with Aadhar card as the only requirement, vaccination in the rural areas will happen quickly.” Bhadras village has not had electricity for the past four days. Vaccine Hesitancy The journalist also explained that many people in Bhadras village are scared to get vaccinated after some villagers aged 45 and above died due to Covid-19 in the past 15 days despite having taken the first shot.
