Notre Dame final thoughts: Endgame questions linger after Ohio State escapes

— Thirteen thoughts on Notre Dame’s epic 17-14 loss to Ohio State, a result that may echo throughout the rest of the season. It’s just that everything after that horizontal Egbuka run felt like Notre Dame and Ohio State were playing at different speeds. Three players accounted for all five of Notre Dame’s third-down conversions against Ohio State: Gi’Brian Payne, Mitchell Evans and Rico Flores. It’s inexplicable that Notre Dame held Ohio State to 38 points in the past two seasons and lost both games. In the same way Hartman lets Notre Dame view offense differently, with a playbook that now threatens the entire field, Ohio State’s collection of receivers changes what offense can be for the Buckeyes.
