Coimbatore round up
Training camp held for tribal farmers at Attappady The ICAR-Sugarcane Breeding Institute, Coimbatore, organised an ‘Awareness-cum-Training Campaign for Enhancement of Tribal Income’ at Attappady in association with ICAR - KVK, Palakkad, recently. P. Govindaraj, Director, ICAR-Sugarcane Breeding Institute, said the Institute’s tribal development initiatives through the Development Action Plan for Scheduled Tribe Component project was recognised by the Salem district administration at the Republic Day celebrations. Welcoming the announcements in the Union budget for the property sector, its president Gugan Ilango said that as far as the housing sector is concerned, nil tax for annual income up to ₹12 lakh would put a higher disposable income in the hands of the prospective home buyers. However, continuing to keep the cap on affordable housing at ₹45 lakh per unit announced several years ago was a deterrent given the surging costs of land, building materials, wages, and rising inflationary trend.
