Oakland A’s TV broadcaster Glen Kuiper suspended after saying racial slur on air

New York Times

Oakland A’s TV broadcaster Glen Kuiper is suspended after saying a racial slur on air before Friday’s game against the Kansas City Royals, an NBC Sports California spokesperson confirmed to The Athletic on Saturday. “A little bit earlier in the show, I said something, didn’t come out quite the way I wanted it to,” Kuiper said. I just wanted to apologize for that.” Kuiper issued another apology through the network’s spokesperson Saturday: “I could not be more sorry and horrified by what I said. Jim Kaat issued an on-air apology during an Astros-White Sox playoff game in 2021 when he suggested teams would like to have a “40-acre field full” of players like Chicago infielder Yoán Moncada.
