Kozhikode: RTC pensioners fail to get benefits

Kozhikode: The pensioners of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation do not receive the post-service benefits even after many months due to the treasury restrictions. An official who preferred anonymity said that there was Rs 20 crore in the account of KSRTC but the finance department had refused to operate it due to the financial crunch in treasury. This is happening despite an earlier High Court order to ensure sufficient funds in the account of the KSRTC to provide the pension benefits to retired employees. The retirees receive the cheques after many months and when they submit the cheques in the bank, they are told that the account is frozen, said Vijayan Madakkimala, a former KSRTC employee.
