Court told baby sustained injuries consistent with being 'thrown into a wall' as father denied bail

ABC

A father of five will remain behind bars over Christmas after allegedly inflicting injuries to his three-month-old daughter consistent with her "being thrown into a wall". The accused wiped away tears on his T-shirt while prosecutor Matthew Dunn told the court the three-month-old's injuries were "so significant" there are concerns the child may experience permanent paralysis and blindness. Mr Johnson also said his client's wife is "very upset" because the case had been mentioned on the news and that the couple were concerned about his safety in prison. Magistrate Davis said court documents noted $40,000 in cash had been located at the address when the man was arrested which shows he has the means to potentially "take off". Brother believes accused's version of events Speaking outside of court, the accused's brother said "of course" he believed his sibling's version of events.
