US House panel subpoenas organisers of January 6 Trump rally
Al JazeeraA US congressional committee investigating the January 6 insurrection at the United States Capitol building has issued subpoenas to organisers of a rally former President Donald Trump held just before the deadly riot. The House of Representatives Select Committee investigating the insurrection issued subpoenas on Wednesday to 11 individuals involved in organising Trump’s rally, during which he gave a fiery speech claiming the 2020 election had been stolen. Women for America First was the official host of Trump’s January 6 rally and had organised earlier “Stop the Steal” rallies in Washington, DC, and “March for Trump” bus tours. Last week, the committee of nine lawmakers – seven Democrats and two Republicans – issued subpoenas to former members of Trump’s administration, including Meadows, and Trump political adviser Steve Bannon.
