Almost a third of homes currently up for sale are being sold chain free, according to Zoopla, as buyers want to move quickly ahead of stamp duty rising in April. However, while buying chain free may save on the stamp duty cost, they could end up paying more overall - as sellers can typically secure a price premium on a chain-free home.
