RSS-linked magazines to be kept in Chhattisgarh jails, Congress raises concern
India TodayA political controversy erupted after the Director General Jail, Himanshu Gupta, instructed all jail administrations in Chhattisgarh to keep mouthpieces of Rashtriya Swayam Sevak, Panchjanya and Organiser magazines, in libraries across the state. However, a senior official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Guptra believed that these magazines would help the inmates to get to the main stream faster and help them develop a connection with Saharan Dharma which will eventually aid their lives post release. CONGRESS OPPOSES, BJP DEFENDS The decision drew strong opposition from Congress, with spokesperson Akash Sharma alleging that Gupta was trying to gain favour for a promotion. Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Vijay Sharma defended the move, saying, “It is important for inmates to stay connected with the outside world, especially with Sanatana Dharma, which is why libraries will have books on diverse subjects.
