Two held in connection with nine chain snatching cases in Bengaluru

Baiyappanahalli police have arrested two members of the infamous ‘Irani gang’ and recovered 30 grams of gold valuables and a motorcycle totally worth ₹3 lakh from them. According to the police, the accused — R. Hussain, 53, and Tabrez, 39 — used a stolen bike from Maharashtra to commit chain snatching offences. In January this year, the accused had allegedly snatched a gold chain weighing 18 grams from a woman walking near a park at Krishnaiahapalya. Based on his confession, the police recovered gold chain weighing 12 grams from his mother’s house in Begur. According to the police, the accused are habitual offenders involved in as many as nine chain snatching cases in and around Bengaluru.
