IIT Madras hosts ICIIS 2024 with workshops on quantum computing and 5G/6G tech

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras and IEEE are jointly hosting the 18th International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems from December 21 to December 23, 2024, at the IIT Madras campus. A key feature of the conference is a workshop on ‘Programming with Quantum Computers’ and ‘5G/6G Wireless Networks’, scheduled for December 21, 2024. "We aim to foster awareness of emerging fields like 5G/6G Wireless Networks and Quantum Computing by combining theoretical insights with hands-on demonstrations. This program is designed to empower participants with the knowledge and skills needed to address real-world challenges in these domains," said Professor R. Sarathi, Dean at IIT Madras, emphasising the significance of the workshop. Programming with Quantum Computers The quantum computing session will cover: Fundamentals of quantum computing Qiskit 101: Basics of quantum programming Qiskit 102: Advanced tools and enablers for applications Practical applications of quantum computing 5G/6G Wireless Networks The wireless networks session will include: Overview of wireless networks Key features of 5G networks 5G standards, architecture, and critical concepts like beamforming, network slicing, and dynamic spectrum sharing The role of SDN and NFV in 5G infrastructure Multi-Access Edge Computing, 5G use cases, and an introduction to 6G technology.
