Grey Line brings Najafgarh closer to Dwarka
The HinduUnion Minister Hardeep Puri and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday inaugurated the Delhi Metro’s Dwarka-Najafgarh corridor, also called the Grey Line. Speaking at the event, Mr. Puri said, “The DMRC network is one of the most comprehensive and in terms of distance covered, one of the most successful urban transport systems in the world and the attempt is to compare it with metro systems in New York, London and Moscow.” While stating that the Delhi Metro has played a significant role in the development of the national capital, Mr. Kejriwal said: “We can only imagine the level of pollution in the city if the entire traffic load had been on our buses. Mr. Verma commended the efforts made by DMRC towards pollution control and Swachh Bharat Mission, and said that Delhi Metro was generating about one-third of its energy needs through renewable power sources. Expansion on cards Stating that a 21-year-old wait has come to an end with the urban rapid transport system reaching Najafgarh, Mr. Gahlot said, “The Chief Minister has fulfilled his long-due promise of a metro line to Najafgarh, which he had made during the 2015 Assembly elections.
