‘Is She Ok?’ US Woman Questions 75% Minimum Tip At Nail Salon

News 18

Tipping is a matter of preference in India, whereas it is a well-established and widely accepted culture in the US. Recently, a woman was horrified when her nail salon demanded a minimum 75% additional tip for beatification work. LaCorte asked, referring to the cosmetologist, “Is she ok?” Because it generally shows 15%, the influencer believes that many people clicked on the 75% option out of habit. LaCorte said, “That really bothered me; I’m not going back to her.” A Pew Research Centre survey from November 2023 stated that most Americans believe they are now requested to tip service providers more often than in the past. LaCorte’s incident, meanwhile, is a part of an ongoing trend known as “guilt tipping,” when customers are persuaded into leaving larger tips at fast-food restaurants, coffee shops, pizzerias, and other establishments with subpar customer service.
