Pa Ranjith lists his four favourite films

The Hindu

Pa Ranjith, one of the most important filmmakers in Tamil cinema today, made his directorial debut with Attakathi, and went on to make a mark with Madras. The emotions and characters were well etched out, and I often mull about how difficult it would be to direct such a film in today’s times. What I loved about the film is the climax and the dialogue that has a character saying, ‘Inikki naan nallavana maariten, ana neenga kettavangala aayiteenga’. The Pope’s Toilet One film that not many people know about, but something I highly recommend. This Uruguayan film tells the story of a visit of the Pope to a village, and how people there gear up for it.
