Canucks trade deadline targets: Why these 5 high-character players could help Vancouver

It’s not exactly a secret that, even beyond injuries and inconsistency, internal turmoil and a lack of locker room chemistry have torpedoed the Vancouver Canucks season to this point. Over the past week, we’ve been reviewing some of the Canucks’ potential trade deadline targets, from top-six centres to depth centres to potential wingers to fatten up their forward group. Here are five players with various attributes — be it exceptional toughness, exceptional work rate or high locker room character — that the Canucks could consider adding as they look to turn the page on a campaign that still offers opportunity, even if it’s been marred to this point by a general sense of dysfunction. The Canucks’ locker room doesn’t have many outgoing personalities that can connect with teammates of all ages and backgrounds — Tanev would check those boxes.
