Technical conclave focuses on cyber security

The need for vigilance in protecting personal data while using the internet was underscored at a cyber security conclave hosted by the PG and Research Department of Computer Science, National College, in association with the Department of Computer Science, Bharathidasan University, on Wednesday. Sathiyaseelan Shanmugam, Technical Head, National Cyber Security Research Council, New Delhi, spoke on the demand for skilled workers in the sector. In his inaugural address, G. Gopinath, Head, School of Computer Science, Engineering and Applications, BDU, elaborated on the advancements in cyber security technologies and stressed the need for collaborative efforts between academia, industry, and government to build robust cyber defence mechanisms. S. Chellammal, associate professor, Computer Science, Centre for Online and Distance Education, BDU, discussed different types of cyber threats, and methods to counteract them in her session.
