China China has ordered the residents of Tianjin city to stay home while it conducts mass Covid-19 testing after a spate of recent cases, including two caused by the Omicron variant, according to AFP. Tianjin began mass testing of its 14 million residents on Sunday after a cluster of 20 children and adults tested positive for Covid-19, including at least two with the Omicron variant. The restrictions include a ban on gatherings of more than 25 people, closure of schools till January 29, vaccination for students between the ages of 12 to 17, Germany Germany's Health Minister Karl Lauterbach on Sunday said that the government will study how reliable rapid antigen tests are in detecting the Omicron variant.
