It’s Anthony Edwards Time in Minnesota. The Timberwolves have no choice

When Anthony Edwards lay on the court in Milwaukee, writhing in pain and a grimace on his face after a frightening fall in the fourth quarter, more than half of his Timberwolves teammates walked from their bench on the opposite end of the court to gather around him, concern in their eyes as they orbited their young star. “So when he’s succeeding, everybody else wants to follow.” Not only did the Wolves follow Edwards back to the bench on Friday night in Milwaukee, but they watched him shake off the painful fall and knock down both free throws on his way to scoring eight points in the final four minutes of the game to keep it closer than it should have been. “When the ball is moving, he’s involved,” Edwards said. “I’m not your typical point guard, so he got to help me out sometimes,” Edwards said. “I don’t know what to run because I might call something that’s going to be for me.” At one point in the fourth quarter against Denver, Edwards held the ball and hoisted a pull-up 3 in front of Michael Porter Jr. As the Wolves were coming back to the bench following a timeout, Finch glared at Edwards and told him to “run the play.” Edwards obliged, coming out of the timeout with a driving layup for a 114-105 lead with three minutes to play.
