It is impossible to capture the magnitude of the resolve and tension within Iran now. When the U.S. government overthrew the Taliban and Saddam Hussein, Iran’s Islamic Republic, for the first time since it was formed, was able to extend its influence from the Hindu Kush to the Mediterranean.
