It's traffic challans vs power cuts as 2 Kerala departments fight tooth and nail

India Today

Kerala is seeing a power play, literally. The Kerala State Electricity Board and the Kerala's Motor Vehicle Department are at loggerheads and have resorted to extreme punitive measures against one another. The tussle first came to light after an AI camera installed by the motor vehicle department issued a ticket to an electricity board contract vehicle in Wayanad. The electricity board went ahead and disconnected power connections to motor vehicle department offices in Kannur and Kasaragod districts. The real reason behind the friction, sources said, was the motor vehicle department's AI cameras fining electricity board officials for wearing industrial safety helmets instead of regular helmets while riding two-wheelers.
