The government agency has launched a pilot program in 12 states that allows eligible taxpayers to file federal returns directly with the IRS, online and for free. So if somebody has a hard time understanding if they're eligible for the earned income tax credit, for instance, direct file is not going to make that simpler. JUROW KLEIMAN: So for this year, I was told that the goal is mid-March to open it up to, you know, everyone who's eligible still with those income and credit limits that I mentioned.
