Meet the five up-and-coming artists featured in Primavera 2024: Young Australian Artists at the MCA

A living ancestor The four aluminium diamond shields that make up Hartshorn's work — representing the artist and his three sisters — speak to familial connections, inheritance and the idea of protection. A Wiradjuri motif Yiramir Mayiny builds on Hartshorn's previous work, including his 2024 commission for My Country at the NGV, an installation of 16 diamond-shaped glass shields representing the 16 Snowy Hydro dams.
