Will re-evaluate answer sheets under verification scheme: CBSE to Delhi HC [Read Order]

The Central Board of Secondary Education on Friday told the Delhi High Court that it will re-evaluate the answer sheets of students who have grievances with the evaluation, under its verification scheme.The submission was made by Additional Solicitor General Mr. Sanjay Jain, who assured the Court of such re-evaluation, despite the fact that the policy for re-evaluation of answer sheets stands withdrawn from 2017 examinations. He further stated that the concerned marking scheme shall be uploaded on the CBSE website within a period of two working days.These requests, the ASG told the Bench comprising Justice Manmohan and Justice Yogesh Khanna, would be considered on a ‘first come first serve basis’. This would mean that those students who have already applied for re-verification, their papers will be scrutinized on priority basis as per the marking scheme.Mr. Jain further assured the Court that CBSE will not act upon the undertaking given by the students to the effect that they cannot approach the Court on account of their having obtained photo-copies of their answer scripts.While accepting the submission, the Court disposed of the Petition, with the clarification that the ASG’s submissions would be applicable to not just the Petitioners, but also to those students who have already approached the Board with similar grievances.The Court was hearing Petitions filed by several students, challenging the CBSE’s 29 May notification which lays down the process and fees for re-verification of the marks and for obtaining the photocopies of the evaluated answer sheets.
