Maharashtra gets notice for bulldozer action against man for anti-India slogans
India TodayThe Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Maharashtra government and the Malvan Municipal Council in response to a contempt petition filed against the demolition of a scrap trader's shop following allegations of anti-India slogans in Sindhudurg district. Last month, after a Champions Trophy match, 38-year-old trader Kitabulla Hamidulla Khan and his family were accused of chanting anti-India slogans. The petition contended that the demolition of a Muslim man’s home and shop was conducted without prior notice or warning, in violation of previous Supreme Court guidelines on bulldozer actions. The complaint alleged that Khan, along with his wife Ayesha and their 15-year-old son, shouted anti-India slogans, including after the dismissal of Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma.
