Students sexually abused at university where Princess Anne is chancellor
The TelegraphHarper Adams, founded in 1901, is ranked fourth in the UK for agricultural and forestry degrees and appointed the Princess Royal as its first chancellor 11 years ago. All five students interviewed for the university’s internal investigation said they witnessed undergraduates being subjected to “lashings” by their peers during brutal rugby club events. Minutes from a meeting between university staff and the student’s father showed the family made allegations of “extensive, endemic physical abuse forced upon students by their older peers as part of initiation rituals”. West Mercia Police reports show Student X claimed he was sexually assaulted by a member of the university rugby team during a “pimps and hoes” night at a local pub. Student X also alleged he had cigarettes stubbed out on his body by rugby club peers on two occasions, and said at one time “four to five cigarettes put out on his back”.
