Why states can't help solve Tesla's 'challenges' in India
India TodayOver the last few days, several politicians have invited Tesla CEO Elon Musk to set up shop in their respective states after the world's richest man said his electric car manufacturing company was "still working through a lot of challenges with the government" to start a manufacturing unit in India. Ministers representing states such as Telangana, Punjab, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra invited Elon Musk to build a local manufacturing unit in a bid to help Tesla overcome these "challenges". But, these politicians seem to have misinterpreted Elon Musk's statement as Tesla is not looking to build local manufacturing plants in India, at least for now. TESLA'S CHALLENGES MISINTERPRETED To put things into perspective, the central government has already invited Tesla to set up local manufacturing units in India.
